Ok people. Here is the first "Blog" post for the 2016 mission. This is our team picture......My name is Tom Kepler (the one on the far left), directly in front of me is John Leskajan and to his left is his wonderful wife Mika. This is their 9th trip to Chile. (Mika is my backup blogger. ...so if you like what you read here, remember my name is Tom. If you don't like what you read......my name is Mika). To my left are Don and Sharon Fisk (not sure but I think this is their 4th trip to Chile). In front of Sharron is Linde Cortel (Newbie! Ha!) In front of Linde is Maggie Leskajan (John and Mika's granddaughter.....a newbie, but....she has John and Mika). To Maggies' left and in front is Olivia Kizer, her mom, Kristina, and to Kristina's left is her husband Scott (the bald one....and they are a whole FAMILY of newbies!). Behind Kristina is Evan Wallace and to his left is his father Scott (not newbies). In front of Scott Kizer is Paul Jones (2nd trip to Chile).....and last but not least is Rick "Sumo" Seaton (we've lost track of how many trips to Chile he's made).
Scott Wallace is our team leader this year, taking over from Mika (who did a fantastic job last year).
Team meetings have been taking place over the last several months that included team building, name recognition, planning, organizing and stories to help prepare those that have not gone before.
There has been, and will continue to be, much prayer over the many aspects of this trip.....and this is one of the ways we are asking you, our readers, to support us.
This years blog is intended to take you along on our journey.....and in so doing, give you specifics of things to pray for....not just the physical aspects of the labor this team is doing, but, to also show you the hearts, the dreams, the struggles, the joys and the visions the people of Iglesia de Cristo Lautaro have. These are our brothers and sisters that have humbled themselves to ask for help, allowing God to supply the resources they don't have.....and this is the way it should be...(Hmmmm! I have to think about a life application here.....how quickly I forget!)
We are in the last month of preparations (we leave on February 11th).
So....come with us. It won't always be exciting, but there may be some "AHA!" moments, some smiling moments, some praise moments........some prayer moments.
Come with us.
