pictured above are some of the items bought at the market including drums, bowls, elephants, and many more!
After an amazing church service, we went to the roof of the YaYa center, (a shopping mall) for the Masai Market. It is a market only on Sundays where different vendors can bring treasures they made or found. There are many vendors that greet you and try to guide you toward their stand. With multiple people tracking you down, you have to look first, gather back in the mall, then go out to buy what you wanted. Nakia and Rob were the best at bartering, by trading Chapstick, pens, and bringing prices down 6,000 shillings! Though there were many offers to trade a hair tie, and water bottles, Nakia was the only one to secure a trade with more than money. We were all able to find treasures before returning to the Gracehouse where there was an unexpected guest, Mary Kamau! She and her husband, Wallace, started Missions of Hope International. We had a nice conversation with her, catching up about families and churches. All in all, it was a great afternoon.
