It is the afternoon of our last day here in Tacna. Each day has been sunny and warm-hot at times.
We saw almost 300 patients in the three different clinic locations we held in the last 5 days. Many were provided with medicine, health education, and glasses.
We attended church this morning in the Central Church. The Pastor noted that many people (including our team) were a bit sleepy. She knew that many of us attended a wedding the night before so she had us stand up and sing a cute kids song.
Here are just a few things we learned while we have been here:
-it takes much longer to communicate when using translators and "wires" sometimes can get crossed.
-small children love to dance and run around in every culture.
-a Peruvian wedding is very similar to an American wedding
-The Christmas tree tradition seems "out of season" here in Peru. And snowmen? Most people have never seen snow!
-Mostly we learned that people need to be loved and served all over the world. We came to serve those in Peru but many here came to serve us.
We hope you plan to join us in a few weeks when we get together to share pictures and stories. The date will be announced after we get back.
Please keep us in mind tomorrow as we make the long trip home, and Feliz Navidad from Tacna!
